Over the last few months Artemis has taken steps to improve our website’s accessibility for our disabled customers. Key steps have included improving page formats to better conform to screen readers, increasing visibility of navigation, removing unnecessary pop up windows, and ensuring pages validate to published recommendations. While some areas of the site have been adapted quite quickly other areas, for example those which incorporate Javascript, will be further enhanced over the coming year.
Our Online Transaction area of the site, which allows for online dealing, makes use of Javascript to enhance usability of the system and we will be reworking this in the future. Further to current work, any new developments on the site will aim to comply with the best practice guidelines for accessibility and usability.
We do rely on Adobe Acrobat documents on the site to ensure sensitive documents are secure and accurate. If your screen reader is not compatible with the free Adobe Acrobat Reader, Adobe provide a free online tool which converts the content of PDF files to a format which can be understood by most screen reader applications. (http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/access_simple_form.html ). The URL of the documents can be submitted either via email or web form, and the content is returned, converted to HTML or to plain text to your web browser.
